***Call to artists from the curators of The Climate Theater***

On Saturday, October 25th, the gallery spaces of the Climate Theater in San Francisco, CA, USA will be transformed into a carnivalesque arcade of art and performance. The Climate Curatorial Collective invites artists in all media to freely interpret the theme "Step Right Up: An Election Carnival." At this intersection of Halloween and the media frenzy of the United States presidential election, we will create a space for artistic responses to games of chance, lotteries, voting machines, fortune telling, contests, predictions, lady luck,  and the line between the random and the pre-determined.

We are seeking submissions in all media including interactive art, performance, installation, projection, sound, as well as traditional art forms (painting, photography, sculpture). Work does not have to be specifically political. 20 eclectic spaces will available for artwork and installations including 2 stages with sound systems, several small galleries, a rooftop, hallways and stairwells. Group collaborations are also welcome.

To submit work, please send us the following information:
 Your name(s)
 Phone
 Email
 Title of piece
One paragraph description of piece including how it fits the theme of the show
Web link to video documentation and/or attach up to 3 jpegs
Please list the equipment that you will use (you must bring your own equipment)
Any other special notes or requirements

You may also send a proposal for a work you wish to create in response to the theme.  You will need to write a detailed proposal and attach documentation of prior work.

Please send all submissions and inquiries to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Deadline for submissions: Friday, August 22nd
Walk-through with curators at the Theater/Gallery: Sunday, September 28th
Event date: Saturday October 25th, 2008  8pm-midnight

The Climate Curatorial Collective’s mission is to foster supportive collaboration and experimentation outside the formal gallery system. The CCC adds to the vitality of the SF arts scene by creating opportunities for artists to present ephemeral works outside established categories, and to take risks without commercial pressures.
