Over its 15 year life, NYUFF evolved into an internationally respected showcase for new forms and genres of film, video and media art, premiering features including Sam Green's THE WEATHER UNDERGROUND (2003), Eddy Moretti and Suroosh Alvi's HEAVY METAL IN BAGHDAD (2008), Ryan Trecartin's A FAMILY FINDS ENTERTAINMENT (2005), Suki Hawley and Michael Galinsky's HORNS AND HALOS (2002), Mike Kelley's DAY IS DONE (2006), Redmond Entwistle's PATERSON - LODZ (2007), Jim Finn's INTERKOSMOS (2006), and shorts by Peggy Ahwesh, Cory Arcangel, Jem Cohen, Kevin Jerome Everson, James Fotopoulos, Jeanne Liotta, Luther Price, Kelly Reichardt, Steve Reinke, Hito Steyerl, Deborah Stratman, Leslie Thornton, Robert Todd, Aaron Valdez, and hundreds of others. Migrating Forms is led by two former directors and programmers of NYUFF, Nellie Killian and Kevin McGarry. The festival continues in the tradition of presenting the best of new experimental, documentary and avant-garde film and video each April at New York's historic Anthology Film Archives. Migrating Forms expands beyond festival programming through year-round screenings in New York and elsewhere. Our current series of experimental features at BAMcinématek in Brooklyn launched on October 22, 2008 with the World Premiere of DELIVER, Jennifer Montgomery's all-female remake of DELIVERANCE made with an intergenerational cast of film and video artists.
