Bucuresti 68/1, Chisinau) In perioada 9-19 mai 2010, la Chisinau are loc seminarul _I__nsemnarile Cetatenilor pentru un Atlas al Spatiului Public din Chisinau_ realizat de VLADIMIR US (Oberliht/Moldova), NATASA BODROZIC (Slobodne veze/Croatia), VADIM TIGANAS (Oberliht/Moldova), DAVE PABELLON (AREA Chicago/SUA) si DANIEL TUCKER (AREA Chicago/SUA). http://atlasofchisinau.wordpress.com [1] PROIECTIE PUBLICA: PETRECERI PUBLICE/PRIVATE - PROPUNERI PENTRU REACTIVAREA SPATIILOR PUBLICE. Proiectia va face o introducere despre lucrarile care au influentat activitatile AREA Chicago si ale proiectului "insemnarile cetatenilor pentru un atlas". Lucrarile video prezinta actiuni ale artistilor si activistilor din SUA, care au pus sub semnul intrebarii definitia si parametrii "spatiului public" si "spatiului privat". STATEMENT: Cele 7 filme prezinta exemple ale preocuparii oamenilor fata de spatiul public in Statele Unite, Mexico, Italia si Suedia. Acestea nu prezinta o definitie stabilita a ceea ce ar insemna spatiul public fata de cel privat, dar privite per ansamblu, ele genereaza senzatia ca ceea ce este "public" este deschis spre a fi definit de catre un grup larg in baza notiunilor Democratiei sau/si celor aflate in relatie cu ele, pe cand ceea ce este "privat" poate fi definit si controlat de catre un grup mic care exercita o distributie mai mult sau mai putin echilibrata a puterii. Unele subiecte se pozitioneaza intr-un mod critic fata de istoria contestata, brutalitatea fortelor de ordine, monopolurile media, in timp ce altele vizeaza domenii din sfera productiva cum ar fi bunurile artistice sau dansul; ambele moduri de abordare insa implica un angajament activ si arata felul in care oamenii isi dezvolta singuri mediul in care traiesc zi de zi. This screening will introduce the audience to works, which have influenced the work of AREA Chicago and the Notes for a People's Atlas project. Video works will draw from art and activism in the US, which has contested the definition and parameters of "public space" and "private space." STATEMENT: These 7 videos show people engaging with public spaces in the United States, Sweden, Mexico, and Italy. They do not have a shared definition of what public space is versus private space, but viewed together they provide a sense that what is "public" is open to be defined by many and therefor related to notions of Democracy, while what is "private" can be defined and controlled by a few with an unbalanced distribution of power. Some subjects take critical approaches to contested history, police brutality, media monopolies, or surveillance while others take productive approaches like art making, and dancing, but both approaches actually involve pro-active engagement and demonstrate the ways that people make the places they live in everyday. "We are the city!" the people seem to cry!
