Ein Beispiel dieses Phänomens ist das „Volkstheater“ in Polen: Wahre Enthusiasten, gekleidet in Kostümen und ausgerüstet mit alten Waffen, führen historische Ereignisse auf und inszenieren sie neu. Solche Reenactments sind inzwischen hochpopulär und finden Unterstützung seitens lokaler Behörden. Selbst wenn diese Spektakel vorgeben, Geschichte objektiv darzustellen, erzeugen sie doch in der Öffentlichkeit starke emotionale Rückwirkungen. Die 7. Berlin Biennale und das Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA) Ujazdowski Castle in Warschau haben einige solcher Amateurgruppen eingeladen, eine Neuinszenierung der Schlacht um Berlin von 1945 zu erarbeiten und sie an öffentlichen Plätzen in Berlin und Warschau vorzuführen. 2.5.2012, 19 Uhr FREEDOM FOR CENSORSHIP ART/POLITICS/INTERACTIONS Diskussion und Musik-Aktion mit Krytyka Polityczna KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Auguststraße 69, 10117 Berlin Diskussion über zeitgenössische Formen von Kunstzensur unter Berücksichtigung der Spannungen zwischen Meinungsfreiheit, gemeinsamen Werten, wirtschaftlichen Faktoren, politischen Erwartungen an Kultur und Political Correctness zur Verschleierung sozialer Spannungen. Die erste von insgesamt fünf Musik-Aktionen während der 7. Berlin Biennale präsentiert eine Sammlung nationaler Hymnen ehemaliger europäischer Kolonien. Die musikalische Umsetzung von Saenz Valiente und Masecki thematisiert Fragen nach westlicher Schande und Postkolonialismus. Die Musik-Aktionen werden unterstützt von der Stadt Warschau. 4.–5.5.2012, 13–18 Uhr NEW WORLD SUMMIT – JONAS STAAL Sophiensaele, Sophienstraße 18, 10178 Berlin Der *New World Summit* ist ein alternatives Parlament politischer und rechtlicher Repräsentanten von Organisationen, die auf internationalen Terrorlisten aufgeführt sind. Die intransparenten Verfahren, nach denen diese Listen erstellt werden, werden von zahlreichen politischen Parteien, Menschenrechtsorganisationen, Juristen und Philosophen als Bedrohung demokratischer Politik angesehen. Der *New World Summit* hinterfragt die auf Ausschluss beruhenden Politiken, die einmal gelisteten Gruppen jegliche Form legitimer politischer Mitwirkung verweigern. Karten: 1 Tag: 12 Euro, 2 Tage: 20 Euro (Wir empfehlen die Teilnahme an beiden Tagen, um einen Gesamteindruck des Projekts zu erhalten.) Einlass nur gegen Vorlage eines gültigen Personalausweises. SOLIDARITÄTSAKTIONEN Wie in der Politik ist es auch in der Kunst besser, kollektiv zu arbeiten als alleine. Daher haben wir andere Kunstinstitutionen mit gleichen Interessen darum zu gebeten, ihre eigenen Recherchen zu entwickeln und diese im Rahmen der 7. Berlin Biennale oder parallel zu ihr zu präsentieren. Diese Aktivitäten und deren Ergebnisse nennen wir * Solidaritätsaktionen*. Statt auf Wettbewerb legen wir unser Augenmerk auf Zusammenarbeit mit einem gemeinsamen Horizont. In der Kunstwelt herrscht ein Mangel an Solidarität. Die *Solidaritätsaktionen* sind ein erster Schritt, um dies zu ändern. One such example can be found in Poland, in the phenomenon of “people’s theater”: Real enthusiasts – dressed in costume, with vintage weapons and other military paraphernalia - perform/re-enact historical events. Such re-enactments have become very popular and are supported by local authorities. Even if these spectacles pretend to present history in an objective way, they nevertheless incite very emotional reactions from the public. The 7th Berlin Biennale and the Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA) Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw have invited a few such amateur groups to stage a re-enactment of the Battle of Berlin 1945 taking place in public space in Berlin and Warsaw. 2.5.2012, 7 pm FREEDOM FOR CENSORSHIP ART/POLITICS/INTERACTIONS Discussion and Music-Action with Krytyka Polityczna KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Auguststraße 69, 10117 Berlin A discussion on contemporary forms of censorship of art, which considers the tensions between freedom of speech, shared values, economical determinants, political expectations towards culture, and political correctness as a practice of masking social issues. The first of five music-actions taking place during the 7th Berlin Biennale presents a collection of national anthems of former European colonies. Special musical arrangements by Saenz Valiente and Masecki explore themes ranging from Western shame to post-colonialism. The music-action project is supported by the City of Warsaw. 4.–5.5.2012, 1–6 pm NEW WORLD SUMMIT – JONAS STAAL Sophiensaele, Sophienstraße 18, 10178 Berlin The *New* *World Summit* is an alternative parliament for political and juridical representatives of organizations placed on international terrorist lists. The nontransparent procedures by which these lists are created are considered a threat to democratic politics by numerous political parties, human rights organizations, lawyers, and philosophers. The event questions those politics that are based on exclusion and deny any form of true political participation to those groups that have been listed. Tickets: 1 day: 12 Euro, 2 days: 20 Euro (We recommend to attend both days in order to get a complete picture of the project.) Entry to the event only with a valid ID. SOLIDARITY ACTIONS As in politics, it’s also in the arts better to work collectively rather than alone. So we decided to ask other art institutions who are interested in the same issues to develop their own research and present it in the framework of the Berlin Biennale or in parallel. We call these activities and their results *Solidarity Actions*. Instead of competition, we focus on cooperation with a common horizon. There is a real lack of solidarity in the art world, and the *Solidarity Actions* are a first step to change it.
