Call for applications Within the context of an Alternate Reality Game (ARG), we invite game designers, urban planners, historians and scriptwriters to apply. An Alternate Reality Game is a format as yet little explored that makes use of a variety of media to tell a fictional story that evolves within a dialogue with the public. It brings theatre off the stage into the realm of authentic scenarios and blurs the boundaries between reality and fiction. The game shall be developed and implemented in the urban environments of Maribor and Rijeka (Croatia) supplemented by additional storytelling devices in the virtual sphere. THE PROJECT At the heart of the project lies an interest in exploring new forms and formats of collective storytelling in a small, international team. For the duration of 2 months 3+ participants will work on the development of a story to be told through different media within the urban spaces of Maribor. Professional mentoring and assistance by Philipp Zimmermann, Berlin-based game designer, will guide us through the process of implementing the city tale into the urban and virtual spaces and triggering an interaction with the public. REQUIREMENTS We are looking for creative people that think outside the box, however skilled in their profession. Any type of skill, craftsmanship or technical knowledge are most welcome. If you have a genuine interest in thinking laterally, creating stories, enjoy weaving a web of clues and hints, and have some technical knowledge/ expertise, youre an ideal candidate. The production of clues is equally important as is the ability to respond creatively to public behaviour towards the storyline. Are you an outspoken team player and open for new ideas, eager to get involved in experiments? You would have ideally lived in Maribor for a few years and are well acquainted with the city. You will need to - be resident in Maribor (Slovenia) - work collaboratively - have knowledge of the history of Maribor - show commitment and dedication to stay onboard throughout the process (2 months) - be able to engage 4-8hrs a week with the project - ideally be flexible with working hours and get in touch with us 17th Sept 2012. ALL PRODUCTION COSTS WILL BE COVERED. The project is organised by Jana Falkenroth and Julia Danila, both cultural managers respectively at drugomore Rijeka and at Plesna Izba Maribor.
