Centralele electrice pe cărbune, sobele, ambuteiajele sufocante cauzate de microbuze și mașini contribuie la formarea unui smog toxic. Construcțiile necontrolate a blocurilor înalte și defrișările împiedică circulația aerului proaspăt în centrul orașului. *#BishkekSmog* reflectă starea și procesele din regiune, unde sărăcia și corupția se transformă într-un dezastru ecologic. Care sunt cauzele smogului? Disputa eternă – cine poluează mai mult aerul? Centralele, mașinile, noile construcții, dezvoltarea – toate își fac efectul, în timp ce autoritățile își pasează responsabilitatea, oamenii respiră aer toxic, punând sănătatea sa și a copiilor săi în pericol. Poluarea aerului și a apei cauzată de creșterea rapidă și exploatarea minieră nereglementată amenință sănătatea publică. Dar o nouă generație de tineri activiști civici spune că a sosit momentul să curețe orașul și să lupte pentru un viitor mai bun. Iskender Aliyev și Bermet Borubaeva și-au unit forțele pentru a realiza un film documentar-investigativ despre smogul din Bișkek. Filmul abordează smogul ca pe o problemă complexă, analizându-l din diverse perspective și discutând cu experți, medici, activiști și locuitori ai orașului. *Bermet Borubaeva*Bermet Borubaeva este cercetătoare, politoloagă și curatoare. Deasemenea, este co-fondatoare a Școlii de Artă Contemporană din Bișkek și inițiatoarea unei serii de proteste sub hashtagul #BishkekSmog. Coal-fired power plants and furnaces, as well as suffocating traffic jams from vans and cars, all contribute to toxic smog. Unregulated high-rise construction and tree felling hinder the free circulation of fresh air in the city center. *#BishkekSmog* is a reflection of the state and processes in the region, when poverty and corruption turn into an ecological disaster. What are the causes of smog? The eternal dispute – who pollutes the air more? CHPs, cars, new buildings, development – these are specific polluters, but while government agencies shift responsibility to each other, people breathe hazardous air, putting themselves and their children at risk. Air and water pollution caused by rapid growth and unregulated mining also threaten public health. But a new generation of young civic activists say it’s time to clean up the city and fight for a better future. Iskender Aliyev and Bermet Borubaeva have joined forces to create a documentary-research film about Bishkek’s smog. The film shows smog as a complex issue. It looks at it from different angles, meeting and talking with experts, doctors, activists, and city residents. *Bermet Borubaeva* Bermet Borubaeva is a researcher, political scientist and curator. She is also a co-founder of the Bishkek School of Contemporary Art. She initiated a series of protests under #BishkekSmog.
