Nickel rose $450, or 4.5 percent, to $10,550 a ton after climbing as
high as $10,600, the highest since Feb. 11. Usage of the metal to make
stainless steel will rise 30 percent to 795,000 tons in 2010, researcher
Heinz H. Pariser Alloy Metals & Steel forecast today at a British
Stainless Steel Association meeting. Stainless steel accounts for about
half of nickel use.
