If it was a war (1960's), America lost after Vietnam War and flotation of
USD to Gold. The Bretton Wood system disbanded in 1970's meaning the peg was
lifted.

Still, America chugs and left the rest of the world behind, economically. So
did they lose when they close down Bretton Wood?
