BRUSSELS (Thomson Financial) - Euro group president
Jean-Claude Juncker warned against any over-reaction
to today's slide in share prices due to concerns about
the impact of the US slowdown on the European economy.

'We should not over-react to the events on the stock
exchanges today,' Juncker said at a news conference
following the monthly gathering of euro zone finance
ministers.

The Luxembourg premier and finance minister conceded
however that the economic and financial climate is
'highly volatile and uncertain'.

He said a recession in the US can no longer be ruled
out, adding that this would have an impact on the euro
zone economy.

He added however that any fallout for Europe would be
'very limited' as its economy is less dependent on the
US than previously.

Rita
