"Bank Indonesia will continue to implement flexible, cautious and measured policies to tame inflation," Bank Indonesia Governor Boediono said after the central bank's monthly rate-setting meeting. Boediono added that on-year inflation will likely range between 11.5% and 12.5% at the end of the year before easing to between 6.5% and 7.5% at the end of 2009. Consumer-price inflation in June accelerated to 11.03% on year from 10.38% in May, the fastest pace since annual inflation hit 14.55% in September 2006. On-month inflation rose to 2.46% in June from 1.41% in May. Analysts expect the central bank to continue hiking its key rate in the coming months, possibly up to 9.5% by September, as global food and commodity prices continue to rise following the surge in oil prices to record highs.
