[ http://obs.freeamp.org/download/obs-0.3.0-pre1.tar.gz ] This release has been way overdue for a long time -- I apologize. This latest release incorporates the most asked for features, namely: - web interface for editing meta data - scripts to write id3 tags and to name mp3 files/directories according to the metadata in the server - scripts to search hard drive and add files to the sql server - id3v1 and id3v2 tag support - improved installation scripts The improved install scripts make it a lot easier to get Obs up and running. So, please download the release and let me know if you run into any problems. Please remember that this is release pre1, meaning that this release should be considered beta and you should back up your data and mp3s. If that's a bit too much effort, install obs into another location and play around with the AddFiles.pl scripts, the web page meta data editing and the CleanUp.pl scripts. These scripts are the ones that modify your database and I want to make sure they're rock solid. The docs for the release are on the web page, which also sports a new look and it should be much easier to read. I'm programmer not a webdesigner, Jim! If you run into problems, please enter them into bugzilla -- click on the bug link on the obs site. ChangeLog for 0.3.0-pre1: - Added support for admin pages that allow editing the database information - Added AddFiles.pl script that searches for mp3s files and adds them to the database. - Added the CleanUp.pl script that structures the mp3 files according to the metadata in the database. - Support for ID3v2 tags in AddFiles.pl, SubmitTrack.pl and CleanUp.pl - Moved all perl stuff into four seperate perl modules - Created a perl module install script - Improved the install-db.pl program to work with MySQL servers that have root passwords set and non-source MySQL installations. - Added -n option to run the server without streaming mp3s - Improved error messages to help people who got stuck on the most common install issues. - Improved install process that now sets up the database information in obs.conf and ObsDefs.pm files - Updated to work with the latest and greatest DBI, CGI, and DBD::mysql modules --ruaok Freezerburn!
