I have 9 processes with a single http channel. I'd have thought the 20
or so processes you have seems reasonable if you have 2 or more channels.
Do your processes descend from a single obsd? (i.e. do the PPIDs match up
to PIDs)
I have one obsd from init, then one from that and the remaining 7 all come
from the second.
# pstree -a | grep obsd
|-obsd
| `-obsd
| |-obsd
| |-obsd
| |-obsd
| |-obsd
| |-obsd
| |-obsd
| `-obsd
I have on several occasions (like everytime I reboot) ended up with more
than one family of obsd's because I used the obsctl script in my rc.d
At some point I will write a proper obsctl script.
