Hi Gareth,

I always treat these calls as suspicious and tell them I have a very
expensive, sophisticated system - just in case.

Some mention ADT, but are they part of ADT marketing?

Like most of us I receive regular calls from alarm firms (mostly ADT)
who also ask me as to whether I have an alarm.

Personally I do not like cold canvassing, and upfront questions whether
I have an alarm, especially if it is a private non traceable call. I
refuse to divulge any information whatsoever.

On this note there is not a thing as "free alarms" You PAY. Firstly you
have to sign a monitoring contract which is very profitable for the
alarm firm. Secondly this so called free alarms often specifies only
minimum equipment and does not take in consideration your specific
needs. Rather buy your own equipment, in particular control box and you
can move the monitoring anywhere anytime. CAVEAT EMPTOR (let the buyer
beware)

Regards,

Frank
