Hello Miss Marple and others At the ONW committee meeting two relevant decisions were made. 1. The Sector 1 vehicle will have a hand-held radio as from Monday. To date permission to install a mobile radio has been refused, but a portable radio is not a problem. 2. We have tested a repeater (on a trial basis) and found that it meets our requirements re. transmission and reception. The repeater will be bought in the next day or two. Before we can use it we must apply to ICASA for a frequency (and pay for it). We cannot predict it will take them to process our application; once it is submitted we hope that they will allocate a temporary frequency. We are moving as fast as we can, but these things take some time (and we have been consulting with other neighbourhood watches). We have to make sure that the repeater which we are buying will meet our needs, and that we will have a fully functional radio network.
