It is difficult as your email program will not be able to decide what is relevant and what is not. However you may certainly filter on author - so if there is any authot in particular whose fine prose you wish not to to see then you could filter on sender and delete the email without downloading them. IF you go the google group page you will see this is considered a low volume group with an avergae 15 messages per day I think. The other alternative is to read the group online, but with dialpup that is a bit of a pain.
