I recently spoke to Supt. Redelinghugs, who was our Sector Manager and is now in charge of Visible Policing at Woodstock. The subject of the conversation was radio and cellphone contact with Woodstock Police. He seems unaware of the difficulty residents and businesses in Obs often experience in getting through to the Sector vehicle by cellphone (the number is 082 302 5525). In my experience about 50% of the time the phone is on voicemail. Supt Redelinghuys points out that if this is not reported there is nothing that they can do about it (it is, in fact, a disciplinary matter). So if you find the Sector 1 cellphone on voicemail, or if it rings without being answered, he suggests you report this to the officer in charge of the shift (082 469 2552) or to himself (082 469 3096) or to our Sector Manager, Insp. Nel (082 302 5436). N.B. It is worth taking the trouble to do this, since it strengthens our case for having effective radio communication with the Woodstock Police.
