Yes - something is amiss or people including the press are not understanding this. The Argus today has a whole big thing about selling alcohol in residential areas - aka Guesthouses - but mentions nothing about shebeens - or else I missed it. I would like to see a list of complaints about guesthouse guests causing problems becasue of alcohol bought on the premises! Most shebeens I would imagine cause far more problems! Also those calling for 9pm cutoffs are being a bit harsh I feel. Also stopping the sale of alcohol will not cause a big change i feel as people will pack there dining in earlier and quicker! Prohibition never worked and will never work - I feel. The real issues need to be looked after and the social conditions that cause people to drink and misbehave need to be addressed - but then again we do not live in Utopia.
