Between about 9.30 pm and 10.15 pm on Thursday, 5 March 2009, I saw
the SAPS "bust" a house in Scott Road. I UNDERSTAND THAT A GROUP OF
CONGOLESE CHAPS HAS PARTICIPATED IN AN ARMED ROBBERY IN MOWBRAY and
somehow the SAPS were onto them...... They were followed into a house
in Scott - between Arnold and Robins - and ultimately marched out at
gun-point together with their stolen goods. A little later on the
orders of a Policeman, one of the people from the house (who had been
ordered to get out of the back of a police van) was instructed in no
uncertain terms to start the white car (don't know the make - sorry)
in the driveway. Ultimately, the car was hotwired (....meaning it was
a stolen vehicle) and one of the SAPS drove off in it. By the time
this little mission ended there must have been around 12 police cars
outside the house. No shots were fired but there was a pretty major
and equally hectic chase through the streets of Obs prior to the
"hit". The first I knew about it was when 3 police vans, a police car
and 2 "civilian cars" screamed DOWN Station Rd (from Main Rd) and into
Wesley Rd and then on down Milton, turning left into Lower Main -
ending up, finally, on the corner of Arnold and Scott; after which
they made their hit on the house a little higher up in Scott Road.

The one thing this tells me is that we sure do have hardened criminals
in our midst in Observatory...............a sure call to remain
vigilant at all times......
