the problem is that you cannot use an isolated case to determine where the 
problems in the justice system exists, because there are too many variances 
and if for instance in this case, say the loophole is discovered to be with 
the prosecutor, the next case could  have a problem with the magistrate, 
etc,....

the only way to track the problem is to be on the inside and look at the 
averages after compiling many cases, but of course they are not going to be 
too accommodating with such info.
I believe that the cops are risking their lives all hours of the day and 
night and it all comes to nought when the justice system fails them.

As you so aptly mention,..we can only hope,...
