Thanks for the OBS-ervation Johnny. This is a clear indication of who committed the mugging in Trill Road. This is also a very clear warning to Observatory that there is a gang of young, coloured, addicts from Salt River/Woodstock who are trawling Observatory looking for targets. They are probably stereotypically dressed in designer track clothes, wear cheap jewellery and of course a baseball cap. Look out for them and report them to the cops. These young wannabe thugs can be dangerous, especially when under the influence of Tik and they are looking for goods/money to buy their next "hit". Be warned that there was a major drug bust involving heroin in Woodstock last week. It seems they are addicted to all sorts of drugs, so that is a recipe for disaster. They can be very aggressive and feel invincible when high, so watch out. During my stints out at sea, I often engage in conversation with other artisans who live in the Cape Flats and they tell me horror stories of the "tik monsters" that plague the communities, prowling the streets at night, like "zombies" looking for tik. Crystal meth is a huge problem and I have been reliably informed that the drug dealers are targeting kids as young as ten. Once a person has had two or three hits of tik, they are ADDICTED, mostly for life. They also use heroin to come down from a trip and soothe their jagged nerves, so it is a Catch22 situation that is a vicious cycle of up and down and they need money to pay for their "medication", which invariably leads them to commit crimes such as theft out of motor vehicles, mugging and burglary. To give an example of how desperate these addicts are, a fellow worker told us a story about a teenager who stole his mother's toaster, while the bread was still toasting and ran down the road to sell it for drugs.
