In case you didn't see this report in today's Cape Times, this is the gist of what it says. The City's Mayoral Committee has questioned the need to spend an annual R500 million on the Metro Police. They say its annual plan provides no clear targets or reasons for its existence. It contains basic language and spelling errors, and gives no indication of how Metro Police is going to respond to the introduction of the Integrated Rapid Transport System. According to Mayco member Ian Neilson, there are 'flashpoints' that need to be monitored, not only in the taxi industry, but also with traffic and informal trading. The Metro police chief has been given two weeks to redraft the report. Rob --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~
