At 11pm I heard suspicious noises and saw a black man with beige hat (round cotton cricketer type) peering over my six foot wall. I ran to get my phone and then saw him climbing up again. He saw me calling my neighbour to summon the police and disappeared from sight. It transpired that he'd climbed over the neighbour's wall first - she'd heard him breathing and put her stoep light on, which seemed to have scared him off but not prevented him from trying again before he saw me. Two police vehicles arrived fairly promptly. Thanks to my neighbour for calling, SAPS for prompt response and my brother Greg for getting on the ONW radio to summon assistance and legging it down to my house. The street lights were off all night - I called the City Council this morning.
