ONW and the radios assisted in the arrest of at least one of two suspects in Woodstock this morning around 11:00 (?).
Morris (Oscar 44) the security guard in LMR - reported that a steel gate was stolen minutes before. Listening in (not patrolling) I took a stroll and found two men pushing a trolley with the gate in Arnold Road and trailed them to Rochester Road where a cat and mouse game developed. Thankfully Morris, James, Paulo (owner of gate) arrived and confronting the suspects but a couple of minutes both men escaped. One suspect was found, tracked and detained to/in Woodstock where he was eventually arrested by Sector 4 SAPS. ONW and the radio system worked very well as did cooperation with ADT Control and AR. Unfortunately Sierra Whisky (SAPS) did not respond to radio calls and/or getting vans out in time to assist. It is understood that SAPS cannot always and immediately respond but at least let us know, no response is very demotivational and valuable minutes are lost in communications. This is the third incident in as many days where SW did not answer the radio. We were told to observe and report and that is all I wish to do. It’s also unfortunately that suspects got away in two incidents.
