Last night at about 10pm our Woodstock Station Commander, Senior Supt. van der Riel had a serious car accident on the N1 whilst returning from the Police Station. They operated on him for leg and arm injuries and he is in a private room at N1 City Medi Clinic. He is OK but is not allowed visitors at present. I don't know whether many people in Obs appreciate what a dedicated and conscientious officer Pierre van der Riel is. I am sure we all wish him a speedy recovery. Insp. Nel will keep us in touch with his progress. Supt. Redlinghuys is on leave at present so Supt. Lotz is standing in as Station Commander.
