I have a feeling that robbers know that people will be replacing the
stolen computers or whatever, so that if they wait a couple of weeks
there'll be fresh pickings...  I don't know what one can do about it
though. [But keep the serial numbers; it just might help.]

Another indicator of being worth robbing can be putting out with the
garbage the cardboard boxes that e.g. hi-fi equipment comes in. Better
to knock the boxes down and put them *inside* the wheelie bin. Better
still to recycle them!
