At 23h55 I was woken up by my dogs' barking because there was an intruder on my roof. My call to the ADT control room was answered within seconds by a very efficient lady who remained calm (and also kept me calm) while getting all the relevant information from me. I really appreciated the fact that I did not have to call the police myself as she offered to do it for me. Needless to say their response team arrived shortly thereafter, followed by the police. The two intruders were gone by that stage because a neighbour further down the road scared them off. They gained access to my roof by scaling up my immediate neighbour's walls and onto my garage roof after flattening and ripping out the razor wire which spans over my garage and between our properties. The following day I was astounded to note that the razor wire had been reinstalled by ADT thereby once again securing my premises. I am so impressed and very relieved to say the least. In a way I was not too surprised by this intrusion because I just knew something would happen after the second camera disappeared off my wall in May. The next step for me will be to install electrified fencing, as soon as possible. Here is another incident for our crime statistics, a lady (from No 140 Rochester Road) was mugged right in front of my gate shortly after 19h00 on Monday evening (27 July 2009). She was surrounded by four youths (three Black and one Coloured) that were sitting in a brownish coloured car. She managed to hang on to her bag but they ripped off her necklace. I was not at home at the time but other people came rushing out of their homes in reaction to her screams and scared them off. It really seems as if crime is hotting up in our vicinity. Hopefully it will spur on more people to join the Obz Neighbourhood Watch.
