Last night at around 7:45 a friend coming for dinner, was mugged outside my house in Lower Wrensch Road. As she climbed out of the car, he (young, well dressed, med height colored guy) came towards her, grabbed her bag and ran. During the tumble she tried to hit him with a wine bottle but he unfortunately he hit her in the face, trying to defend himself and grab the bag, and gave her a swollen lip.
She screamed so loud and for quite some time that the entire street came out to see what was going on and to help. We called sector 1 van and they were there in about 4 minutes, sector 2 van shortly after that. We thought he had gone into the deserted dairy property opposite my house, but he could not be found. The neighbours and police were all fantastic and so supportive. I had about 7 guests inside my house all from the Southern suburbs and False bay area, they were all amazed at the neighbourhood support and response from the police. They all claimed they have none of that in their neighbourhoods, and their police are notoriously unavailable. So, well done and thanks to everyone, shows how a strong neighbourhood support works. My friend lost her designer bag, with designer wallet, her designer spectacles with all cards and cell phone etc..etc...
