My Bakkie spare wheel and were tyre stolen, in Oxford or Howe roads, not sure. Both Brand new. It is a Toyota Hi Lux Raider Double cab KZTE. According to Market Toyota spares dept, they are doing a brisk trade supplying wheels to victims of theft for this and other Toyotas. Market Toyota supplies a spare wheel lock, and lock nuts for the operating wheels. The thieves are organized. They have an array of jacks, wheel nut spanners and bolt cutters. As a NHW watch neighbours should, in my opinion,be vigilant of our neighbours vehicles and call them if we see people other than themselves 'working' on their cars. I was a bit silly though. Parked car in front of 1 Irwell and placed powertool a bit hidden at the bottom (foot area) - hard to see by just walking by. I did that to make sure that do not forget to take it with me. I had security gate and front door open so I was able to hear what is happening outside - so I thought. Minutes later triangle window was smashed and powertool gone along with sunglasses. Did not hear a thing. They are getting good if that is what one can call it. Then I moved on to Milton Road where I parked. SAPS van called me minutes later worried that other stuff from the car would go. I had a FOR SALE sign with my number on it. They took my statement right away and saved me a trip to the station.
