There is clearly much to much crime. However, I think that, in the
main, the statistics show an encouraging downward trend. The increase
in arrests for drunken driving is probably a good thing, not that
there is more, but that there are more arrests, which may help make
the roads safer.

It is good to have the statistics, no matter how bad, it is better to
know than to be in fearful ignorance.
