I suspect that what we see on this group is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to crime. Why do I say this? I happened to be filling up at the Shell garage yesterday and got chatting to the owner. He told me that on Monday 26 October no fewer than FIVE of his customers had come in to replace their car batteries: all had been stolen sometime on Sunday evening! And these are only his customers! Someone must be making a killing recycling our car batteries. Clearly, any car left parked in the street is at risk (and many residents don't have off- street parking).
