I have tried to register on the Google site as a member , however cannot
seem to access it. I will try again. Not sure if this will reach the
group discussion.
Totally agree this subway must must be closed. It is attracting all the
wrong people who simply stroll around the neighbourhood and residential
areas of Obs , and are then difficult to track down.
If all need to use the station , it will be far easier to control the thugs
who currently have a choice of escape routes. With the limited staff
policing the area , it is impossible to be everywhere at the same time.
It will also keep costs down for us paying for extra security to be all over
the show at the same time.
I agree that it should be at the expense of Transnet or Metrorail , as they
do not maintain the property in any case , eg cleaning and security of these
dangerous areas. They cannot even maintain their station, which is
another sore site to pass by. The enclosure of the subway , must not
become another difficult area to maintain. Someone mentioned fencing or
gates. The problem is that this will be vandalised and stolen. Concrete
is your best option. It simply needs to block off each end and preferably
stop people squating at the particular points too, being much lower than
street level, so a bit of thought needs to go into it.
