I have been informed that SAPS DPO's (Designated Police Officer for
fire-arm licenses) are no longer conducting gun safe inspections and
what is now required by them are two colour photographs of the safe,
showing an external view and an internal view of the safe. The colour
photographs must be attached to a SAPS form Annexure "A" (Declaration
in terms of Regulation 86 of the Firearms Control Regulations, 2004
(Safekeeping Facilities)).
This is in the form of an affidavit in which the signatory states
under oath that he/she has an SABS approved safe or strongroom for the
safekeeping of any firearms.

firearms go to:

Hi Brian,
Thanks for this. Inspector Piedt has visited us to interview my wife and
inspect my safe. Recently he sent Constable Ontong with the paper work
to inspect it again!
eish,
Kris
