Hi Jackie,
On the 17th of March Supt. Piedt head of Licenses at Woodstock SAPS chaired a meeting with all the Liquor Licensees in Ward 57 (Obs, Woodstock, Salt River etc) at the OBS Com Centre Hall His intention was to pick out of the act certain sections that the Licensees habitually transgress and/or dont understand. He warned the gathering that from now on nobody will be able to claim they arent aware of these clauses. For eg sound proofing and noise; the clubs may not operate with open doors when playing music etc. A Council Worker from the public noise prevention dept and an official from the fire department addressed the meeting, which was well attended. License holders who didnt come have been told that non attendance of the meeting will not be accepted as an excuse for future violation of the liquor laws. There were some questions from the floor. Most vociferous were the proprietors of Reload and The Bromwell (Mr.Potgieter) the latter held that if residents didnt like it(noise drunkenness ) they should go and live somewhere else!
The Inspector noted that he is likely to convene further meetings.
Inspector Piedt provided handouts of the relevant clauses for the delegates.
Liquor license holders dont have any excuses regarding understanding of and consequences of the law as of 18th February 2010.

Hi Kris, in my notes I have:

Liquor licence meeting. KM reports back

Could you give me 1 or 2 sentences that make more sense, or was all this covered in the minutes of the Crime com mtg. In that case we do not have to repeat.

Thanks for your help
