We need to be alert to a general increase in armed robberies in the Cape Town area see the email below.
I am told in the central part of Cape Town the crime is the worst for 4 years with the emphasis on violent crime. So far, thanks to the efforts of SAPS, Vetas Schola and resident ONW patrollers our crime has been better but please be aware and take care, David David Raphael 072 065 7223 Chairperson OBS NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH -----Original Message----- From: Shirley Aldum [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 28 May 2010 15:51 To: [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: RCID NEWS FLASH : ALERT ! Armed Robberies on the increase TO ALL RCID RESIDENTS : ALERT ! ALERT ! ALERT ! There has been an increase in armed robberies in the Rondebosch (and Surrounds), Sunnybrae and Newlands areas over the past few days, with daily incidents of armed robbery (and now a hijacking) taking place in Sunnybrae. I urge residents to PLEASE use the Meet and Greet service. Call the RCID Communiations Hub 15 - 20 minutes prior to arriving home and a patrolman will meet you outside your premises. RCID COMMUNICATIONS HUB CALL : 086 000 7243 / 086 000 RCID An armed robbery took place in Sunnybrae last night at approximately 8h40 p.m. It started as a driveway robbery and soon escalated into a house robbery with the vehicle being taken as well. This was the same modus operandi as the previous 3 incidents in RCID and Newlands. - When approaching your driveway, be on the lookout for suspicious vehicles or persons - DO NOT open your gates or garage doors if you feel you are being followed. Drive around the block and if you are still being followed drive to your nearest police station - DO NOT drive into your driveway and then open your gate, always allow for an exit strategy TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE RONDEBOSCH SAFER !
