We need volunteers to be available: * to man the trauma room at Woodstock Police station at key times during the World Cup. Trauma counselling experience would be extremely helpful but is not essential. Please be watchful especially during the World Cup period: * Never leave drinks unprotected. There are some very slick ways of slipping pills into drinks. * One of the symptoms is vomiting. If you see someone vomiting, particularly if they are bringing up blood, do not assume that they are drunk. They may be a victim. Help them. GENERAL Despite all the plans that have been made, I believe that no one really knows how things will go when thousands of overseas and local fans descend on us. * On Cape Town match days we are told that fans could be parking as far out as Obs and using the trains and buses to reach the match. On these days the trains will be running through until 2:00 am. * The Police will be under pressure and need all the help we can give them. Radio holders, in particular, will be vital in their role of "eyes and ears" of the Police. However, remember you can also use your phones to report in information.
