The story in Friday's Argus (p.4) refers. The City is thinking of allowing volunteers (e.g. Neighbourhood Watch members) to serve as law enforcement officers. If approved, members would "initially be recruited from neighbourhood watches". These volunteer reservists would be able to enforce bylaws - perhaps a tacit admission that Metro don't have the personpower to do the job. It bears looking into. P.S. I don't think I'm the only one getting bombarded with free copies of the Argus. It's apparently part of a promotion, targetting Obs.
