Obsid and the OCA have both agreed to support an initiative to raise funds for a local Obs NGO (Beth Rapha), who have run a successful drug rehabilitation programme for the last 10 years, and turned many lives around. They are one of the few organizations willing to provide rehab to people living on the streets, many of whom have serious addiction problems. They are appealing to local residents and businesses to sponsor one or more of the people in their programme by pledging a regular monthly amount for six months (or more). The OCA and Obsid have both agreed to match donations from local residents and businesses (up to a monthly maximum of R1250, or a combined total of R2500). R2500 is what Beth Rapha charge per month to people in their programme - and this includes food and accommodation. At present they can only accommodate men, but (if the funding were available) they would love to open a facility for women. HOW TO CONTRIBUTE To arrange a monthly EFT or debit order, contact Craig Duke or John Roberts at (021) 447 0908 or 084 484 3068 or email Craig ([email protected] ) P.S. This may not seem crime-related but it is: much of our local opportunistic crime is driven by drugs (which are readily available in Obs.
