Spoken to the owner of the car (Wesley) where there was "no evidence of forced entry" but someone had gained access to his boot.
He tells me that he went to the SAPS to report the loss from the boot of his car of some-machine-or-other. The SAPS person taking his statement said the someone had been found with a wheelie-bin with this very item inside it. Car owner had to give police proof that the machine-thingie was truly his. As he "always" keeps the box of anything he purchases, he was able to give adequate proof to the SAPS. Which now means that as they (the SAPS) can link the person found in Salt River wheeling a bin containing sundry stolen items to THIS PARTICULAR ITEM. The SAPS personnel thanked the Obs resident for coming forward to make a statement saying that they can't catch these perpetrators very often because people seldom want to lay a charge..... Personally I can't help wondering if the bin-wheeler might'nt be the same guy who was seen by a 2-way radio-holder breaking into a car opposite the library a few months back..... He was subsequently seen in vicinity of Oxford tampering with a car door lock with a screwdriver. He's VERY GOOD AT FORCING LOCKS AND LEAVING NO TRACE THAT HE'S BEEN AROUND. Until - for example - you find something missing from your boot or wherever..... -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Observatory Neighbourhood watch" group.
