Dear Observatory, It seems that the OCA needs to keep a budget and proper allocation of where the proceeds of Pepper Square Car Park are spent. According to information I have, the following amounts were donated. Shine: R 683.40 (Who are they and what do they do?) Stamp: R 210.00 (Who are they and what do they do?) Obs Library: R 4,846.45 (As I understand it, all monies have been accounted for. Thanks to Rosemary.) Beth Rapha: R 11,000.00 (This is a lot of money. How was it spent?) Home SPM: R 4,750.00 (Also a lot of money. How was this spent?) Community Police Forum. (Seeing as they no longer get money from Province or the Department of Community Safety, what was the money spent on?) Adonis Musati. R 4,000.00 (Kindly advise who this is and how the money was spent.) Loaves and Fishes. R 280.00 ( We all know this organisation. Why are they getting such an insignificant amount?) The Haven. (Another night shelter in Woodstock. Why are they getting such an insignificant amount?) The Obs Neighbourhood Watch. R 1,000.00 (Also an insignificant amount)
Grand total spent: R 29,054.85 All of this money was generated by the car-park at Pepper Square. The vision behind this initiative was simple. Can the OCA please provide a comprehensive budget, motivation, and balance sheet, for monies received and spent, in the course of our Civic duties to the Community? I look forward to a reply.
