WARNING OF A CON-MAN IN THE Southern Suburbs (Bishopscourt Village)

A con-artist attempting to solicit funds from Cape Times subscribers. Please
read the note below which was sent through by a resident of Bishopscourt
Village.

" Earlier this evening (about 5.30pm) a young chap rang our doorbell and
asked if this was "Capricorn Consulting", which is the name used on our
subscription to the Cape Times. When I said yes, he told me that he was
collecting money for his father (Peter) who delivers the Cape Times to us,
since his father had had a slight accident with his bicycle and he needed
money to repair his bike. I happen to know that Peter does gardening work
for a nearby neighbour so, not sure if it was a con or not, I told him I
would contact her and channel any donations via her. Needless to say she
phoned Peter and he hasn't had an accident but someone from Kirstenbosch
area had phoned him this morning to check the same thing with him. Just
after speaking to Peter the conman rang her doorbell too!

I have already e-mailed the Cape Times and asked them to alert readers, as
well as expressing concern about the distribution list falling into the
wrong hands."
