For the second time in a month, most of a tank of petrol was stolen
from our Toyota bakkie on Sunday night 10 April. The method used is to
take advantage of a design flaw - the pipe leading from the petrol cap
to the petrol tank is accessible through the wheel arch. Slash the
pipe and stick in another and siphon off the petrol. We don't have off
street parking so there is not much we can do. We will attempt to park
with the petrol cap facing the road, so whoever does this will have to
do it in the open, and we are also going to try to "armour plate" the
pipe with something to prevent it from being slashed. I suspect Toyota
bakkies might be particularly vulnerable, so beware!
