Wheelie bin thefts are on the increase.

SAPS tell us that they are finding an increased number of bins abandoned
outside scrap metal dealers.

SAPS REQUEST THAT WE ALL PAINT OUR STREET NUMBER AND NAME PROMINENTLY ON OUR
BINS. They recover stolen property all over Cape Town by investigating bins
that are away from the locations marked on them.

Those of you who have had your bins stolen will appreciate that it is quite
a procedure to get a replacement bin.

PROCEDURE ON LOOSING YOUR BIN

If your bin has been stolen/lost, you need to report the matter to the
police and get a docket number. Once you have that, you call the
Municipality at tel. 086 010 2640, and read the docket number to the person
over the phone. They then give you a notification number and the bill and
send a new bin to your house within 7-8 working days.

Take care,

David
