Thanks for the details *Chris*. We are looking into this to see whether the patrollers were in the wrong and if indeed, this will be dealt with accordingly.
OBSID are considering extending patrols to the area - beyond the current patrol route borders. We of course realize that it is Obs residents using this area, even though it is not officially part of the OBSID area. They key is to balance patrols so other areas of Obs where crime hotspots have been identified are not neglected. The borders of OBSID run up to Liesbeek parkway - but not the river itself and unfortunately there is a lack of organizations actually giving attention to that area. To answer *Biddy*'s question; OBSID does not have bicycle patrols, however should we instate patrols at the river, the patrollers can do foot patrols. - bicycle patrols were ineffective so we are concentrating on foot patrolling more. We continuously monitor our patrollers through trackers in the vehicles, spot checks and other means. Vetus Schola management also do continuous spot checks and site visits. After previous allegations we did thorough checks and did not find any matters to be dealt with. We take these allegations seriously and investigate every complaint. Patrollers who do not follow all the OBSID rules are issued warnings or removed from site.
