Hi Rosemary,

Siren duration is normally set for 3 minutes (Saidsa by-law 25
<http://www.saidsa.co.za/download.htm>required internal siren to be set for
at least a minimum 3 minutes). Generally installers do not exceed a maximum
of 7 minutes, but I cannot find the ruling on which this is/was based. It
depends also on dBa level and area.

Normally an alarm monitoring company can remotely dis-activate the alarm but
they are loath to admit this and even more so to carry it out as they can be
hold responsible.

As last resort the main siren (you hear) is installed outside the premises
and cutting the cable will stop it but who will do it?

VS is at the moment of writing investigating and if we get the street number
we may be able to get the cell number of the owners to notify them.
