Such a pity as always
However, I seriously suggest towards a chance of seeing or catching the
perpetrator/s is:
If your your car has an existing alarm system:

   - check that the aalrm is activated audibly when the door etc is opened;
   - check that when the bonnet is opened that the alarm will sound.

Failing that, attend to the actual problem of repairing the sensor, wiring
or switch.
If not able to do it yourself ( most cheapest route) get a friend to check
it out for you, hopefully at no cost.
Otherwise, take the car to an auto electrical place, i.e Mowbray Auto
Electrical in Dane Street Observatory, 021 448 7034, etc.
But please, if it just the little pin switch under the bonnet, try and check
the wire being in tact, or the contact is not rusted tight, or the contact
rusted up then spray a bit of Q20 on it etc. If so, best have only that
switch replaced and not the whole alarm system.
Regards
James
