At 2.45 pm this afternoon Sunday 29 October 11 two African males walked along Lytton to Scott Road and turned the corner towards the Main Road,. A young colored male walked down Scott on his way home, and was approached by the two men coming across the road to him. Once they reached him a gun was produced and robbed him of his cellular phone, keys and a usb flash-drive stick. fortunately the young man was not harmed and appeared to be well.
They then ran up the road to the Main Road, turned towards Mowbray and jumped into the back of a parked LDV (bakkie), which was waiting on them with the tail gate open, which then drove off towards Mowbray. The one guy had a red top on, the other a dark striped top. They drove off in an* old blue LDV CA 776 974 which had a white canopy*. One of our ONW patrol members incidentally saw it happen as the person was driving up the road and saw the men and then parked vehicle. The matter was reported to the VS office and it was relayed on the ONW radio network. I subsequently heard the message on the radio, went and spoken to the victim and the reporter, requested him to phone 10111 and to requested a case number. In order to have the culprits speedily looked for speedily I informed the Cyclops department, the Woodstock Shift Officer, the Groote Schuur CID, ADT and updated the VS control room. SAPS response vehicle and a detective speedily arrived and attended to the young man's complaint. I informed the young man that he can request for SAPS victim support counselling, which he declined.
