Most of us appreciate the reasons that, sadly, we have to lock the Arnold Street dog park. Without locking we have problems with:
* Broken glass and bottles. * Human excrement * Damage to the gardens * Drug transactions * Discarded drug needles and syringes * Vandalism In fact, last night not only was the park left unlocked, but someone had put a knot into the chain to try to render it too short to lock. This morning human faeces and loo paper were found in one of the flower beds! There are probably visitors who do not appreciate the need to lock. Your cooperation in passing on the message is requested. Keys are, of course, available to all dog owners at the library and our family of dog owners cooperate to allow easy access and assist in locking. In this regard, A big thank you to Rosemary Robins for all the voluntary work she puts in on the park in the face of many problems. Enjoy the rest of the holiday, best wishes and thanks, David David Raphael 072 065 7223 _____ From: Rosemary Robins [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 27 December 2011 10:40 To: draphael Cc: Valentino Jeftha Subject: dog park Good morning David I know you are away at the moment but season's greetings to you, Catherine and Lucy. I have finally come to the end of my tether with the park. I have been walking there approx 4 x a day during the holiday period and on EVERY occasion the park has not been locked. Last night we went by at 11pm en route back from dinner with friends. Not only was the park unlocked, someone had put a knot into the chain to render it too short to lock...........- it took us 15mins to get it operable again. That really was the final straw. I shall from now on distance myself from trying to either maintain or improve the park. Can you suggest anyone who could take over as "unofficial-in-charge"? It would invlove replacing the plastic bags on a regular basis, spraying the padlock with Q-20 when needs be, co-ordinating with City Parks when there are problems, clearing the new garden section of weeds and ensuring the various sections of the park are watered (to dilute the dog wee!), etc. The library would be prepared to continue sellings keys - or maybe Obsid could do that?? Any ideas? I know it would be neither for you nor Catherine but you know many of the park users - far more than I do. Kind regards Rosemary _____ No virus found in this message.
