*40 SUSPECTS ARRESTED OVER THE WEEKEND IN WOODSTOCK *

The Woodstock police arrested 40 (forty) suspects during various crime
prevention operations in the Woodstock precinct over the weekend,
confiscated drugs to the street value of R10 000-00 ,and issued traffic
fines to the amount of R3000-00, during vehicle check points.    ****

The weekend kicked off when a 21 year man was arrested following a Robbery
incident in Frere street , where a women was robbed of her wallet .
Community members who alerted the police assisted in tracing and chasing
the suspect . The suspect was arrested shortly and the victim’s wallet
containing R350-00 in cash and other personal belongings were returned to
her .****

During the early hours of Saturday morning, whilst members patrolled the
streets of Observatory, they spotted a Mazda Rustler bakkie moving  down
Lower Wrench road without lights . When the members approached the vehicle
, they the driver jumped out and ran in the direction of the Main road .
Swift reaction by Sergeant Davids and Constable Khoza , let to the arrest
of the suspect . When the members did a preliminary investigation , they
found out that the vehicle was indeed stolen in Crown street , just one
street away . They also arrested a second suspect , that waited in a second
vehicle , that was parked in Lower Wrench road Observatory . Two men aged
30 and 26  was arrested .  ****

During the execution of a searched warrant in Argyle street on Saturday
night at about 22:00, we confiscated 44 packets of tik,27 units of
unga(heroin),6 mandrax tablets and 10 rocks(cocaine). We arrested 3
suspects age 27,18,19 for possession and dealing in drugs.****

In the early hours of this morning ( Sunday 2012-01-08 ) at about 05:25 ,
we arrested two men aged 32 and 22 years old for Housebreaking business .
Constable Ratshivanda and student Constable Kumatana reacted swiftly to an
burglary in progress complaint at Life Style , situated in Victoria road
Woodstock . With the assistance of Cyclops cameras , the members arrested
the pair responsible for the break inn. The reaction time to the scene made
it impossible for the thieves to get away with anything. ****

Various vehicle check points were held in the precinct and we issued
motorist with spot fines to the amount of R3000-00. We also arrested one
person for driving under the influence of alcohol .        ****

All the suspects arrested will appear in the Cape Town magistrates’ court
tomorrow ( Monday 2012-01-09 ).****

These sort of operations will be done on continues basis in the Woodstock
police precinct. ****
