Hi Marion,

Thanks for your concern. Forgot to mention under Weekly Crimes to be
specifically alert on Monday afternoons when the majority of all the metal
thefts (including copper pipes) happens.

Top shopping day is thus Monday followed by Wednesdays and Fridays., We
were told by the copperheads - the law enforcement specialist for Metal
Thefts for Council Property - that Mondays the syndicate members likely
want to buy drugs hence why we notice an incline. These syndicates work
throughout the entire Metropole using mainly old bakkies but also smart
sedans of which the licence plates gets changed regularly.

Our reports also confirms that mostly coloured thieves are brazenly going
along their way, behaving like gardeners, handymen, council employees etc
and getting away with it but for the occasional alert and observant
resident.

With some 35 kilometres of roads for OPS to patrol and the gutters being
removed all over Obs within minutes, your eyes and ears are vital if we
want to stop this trend

Obsid / ONW recorded 40 specific incidents (with date & time) but these
excludes all observations and reports about merely missing cast iron
pavement gutters and drain covers of which the ONW must have reported
dozens.

If you witness any suspicious activity whatsoever don't hesitate and phone
OPS 021 447-106 immediately and mention if Metal Theft is in Progress, if
possible get a description of the vehicle, registration and persons
involved.

Regards,

Frank
