I must pay tribute to the previous Woodstock CPF Committee, chaired by Teun
Baartman.

Teun ran fiercely apolitical, businesslike and effective meetings for 5
years. Achievements of the committee that come to mind are:

* The constructive and productive relationship between the community
and the previous Station Commander.

* The oversight inspections of the station by civilian committee
members.

* The Trauma Centre set up in the garden of the station manned by
volunteers and financed by donations.

* The large annual pensioners' parties run by the committee and SAPS
Woodstock. Pensioners come from all over Cape Town because they know they
will be well looked after.

* The fundraising for the family of a detective gunned down in front
of the station.

* The joint SAPS and neighbourhood watch patrols and road blocks that
were run.

Clearly the coming year is going to be vital to the Woodstock community. We
look forward to hearing the aims and objectives of the incoming CPF
committee,

Take care,

David
